What’s Up With Everyone? is a campaign to support mental health literacy among young people, with Academy-award winning Aardman (Wallace & Gromit, Shaun the Sheep etc.). Led by Professor Paul Crawford, it's funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (Grant #AH/T003804/1).

The campaign has produced five new short films with young people for young people, concerning things they told us they find challenging: loneliness and isolation, perfectionism, competitiveness, independence and social media. The films are supported by a platform of further information and help seeking advice at www.whatsupwitheveryone.com

Preliminary research shows that the films improve young people’s knowledge and attitudes to mental health, willingness to seek help and confidence in helping others. Research is also exploring the trust young people have in the online information, evaluating the resources and examining how digital stories can advance the mental health and wellbeing of young people.

The project, which reached over 12m in its first 3 months, involves researchers from the University of Nottingham, Loughborough University and London School of Economics, Aardman Ltd, Mental Health Foundation, Happy Space, and Buzz Consulting.

The research phase to the campaign is now closed and findings, alongside final publication outputs, are now published in a new digital showcase hosted on the Mental Health Foundation website (publsihed June 2022).
