Spring 2026 PPI Training Programme

Ever since the Institute of Mental Health was launched, patient and public involvement has added real value to our research, teaching and how we carry out activities within the Institute.

Public and Patient Involvement (PPI) in research can lead to the development of higher quality results and can make it easier to recruit and retain research participants. Offering lived experiences to the work of researchers and teams means advisors with lived experiences contribute vital expertise and give valuable, novel insights to research teams throughout the life cycle of the research. Public and Patient Involvement also extends beyond individual projects and is about embedding the reality of experience into the work of the Institute. Public Contributors have become involved with the Institute through both formal and informal opportunities.

If you are interested in participating in a mental health research study please read about our current research studies hosted by Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
