Date and time: Wednesday 8th February 2023, 11.30am to 12.30pm Speaker:  Dr Gemma Goodall, Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Trondheim, Norway Topic: "Using creative technologies for dementia care: Experiences and findings from an international PhD project" Presentation via Microsoft Teams - please note that you will need to register to join the seminar and you will need to have access to Microsoft Teams. In this talk, Gemma will share experiences and findings from her PhD, at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Trondheim, Norway.  The PhD was a part of an EU-funded project called “SENSE-GARDEN”, led by Professor Artur Serrano. This project developed multisensory spaces for people living with dementia and their families in Norway, Belgium, Portugal, and Romania. These spaces used personalised films, music, scents, and imagery to deliver a tailored intervention within dementia care settings. Gemma’s PhD focused on the social, relational, and emotional aspects of the SENSE-GARDEN intervention, and used qualitative methods to explore the use of technology in strengthening narrative identity and promoting interpersonal relationships for people with dementia. During the PhD, Gemma and her colleagues conducted a systematic literature review and three qualitative studies which explored the perspectives and experiences of potential users, people with dementia, family members and care professionals. The talk gives an overview of the SENSE-GARDEN project and intervention, and the findings from the studies.  The full PhD thesis & articles are available at NTNU Open: https://ntnuopen.ntnu.no/ntnu-xmlui/handle/11250/2788445  Gemma Goodall is Associate Professor in Health Sciences, Department of Mental Health, NTNU.
