Join our current exhibiting artist, Edwina Kung, as she leads a short presentation and creative activity on how she created the 'Inner Rooms, Inner Minds' artwork currently on display at the Institute of Mental Health. Our minds are a space for us to explore our experiences, bringing in places, memories and people. We are often unable to articulate, or make sense of, the many threads of thought whirling around in our heads. Edwina believes her drawings are a safe place to re-frame, reconstruct, and make sense of her experiences. Edwina's presentation will be followed by a participatory drawing activity where attendees will be encouraged to create self portraits with views into their own 'Inner Rooms, Inner Minds'. Professor Elvira Perez will then host a short Q&A with Edwina, answering questions from the audience. This event is open to all and is free to attend. If you would like to join us please register using the 'Register here' button at the top of this page. This event is held in collaboration with City Arts. Edwina has previously exhibited in ‘Re-Imagine’, one of four online open exhibitions we held in 2022 looking at young artist’s mental health. Edwina Kung is a Nottingham-based illustrator, fine artist and printmaker. Edwina’s practice consistently explores how we respond to our surroundings to create a meaningful relationship with people, memories and places. Inspired by personal and collective experiences. She creates her own language in her work through careful, deliberate textures and mark-making, weaving and revealing traces of the process. Reflecting the thought processes and ideas that underpin her work. She received education in Hong Kong, Taiwan, USA and UK, and completed her MFA in Fine Art from Nottingham Trent University.
