The outcomes from the recent ATLAS study were recently published in Lancet Psychiatry.

The study was hosted in part at Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, and included Professor Tom Dening from the Institute of Mental Health.

The study explored if a low dose of antipsychotic drug would have a positive effect on people experiencing very late onset (aged 60 years or over) schizophrenia–like psychosis symptoms.

Following the 12 week study it was confirmed that low dosage treatment would be effective and well tolerated as a treatment for very late-onset schizophrenia-like psychosis, with benefits maintained by prolonging treatment.
