The awareness of mental disability law (including both mental health law and mental capacity law) in the UK and Ireland has increased in recent years, and there is now a wide range of researchers active in the field, in a variety of disciplines. The UK Mental Disability Law Conference is returning to Nottingham this week on 26-27th June and aims to bring researchers together, alongside people with lived experience of mental health/mental disability services.

The conference will explore the effects of austerity; the new Mental Health Act and the new UN convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

The conference is sponsored jointly by the School of Law at the University of Nottingham and the Institute of Mental Health. Programme information can be found on our Events page.
