Psychosocial Assessment and Formulation

Overview: The National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE, 2002) has previously identified core intervention strategies for working with people who experience psychosis. In addition the Capable Practitioner Framework (SCMH, 2001) details the skills and competencies required by the mental health workforce to implement the National Service Framework. The recommend that assessment, treatment and support of individuals with serious mental health needs are based upon sound evidence. Within this module, this approach is linked to an understanding of the conceptual stress vulnerability framework ( Zubin & Spring, 1977). This module enables you to gain a practical understanding of a psychosocial approach to assessment and formulation of individual needs.
