A team consisting of researchers and practitioners (Prof Reg Dennick, Dr Najat Khalifa and Dr Birgit Völlm) has won a £60,000 grant to develop partnerships between Baghdad University College of Medicine and the University of Nottingham from the British Council.
The scheme aims to help rebuild the Iraqi higher education sector by reconnecting Iraq's higher education institutions with their global counterparts and encourage knowledge-sharing on improved practice in higher education teaching, learning and research.A team from Nottingham will visit Iraq twice throughout the 12 months project and up to 15 Iraqi colleagues will attend a workshop in Nottingham. Furthermore a two month research placement for an early career grade doctor from Baghdad University College is planned from spring 2011.
