The theme for the 2012 Annual Meeting is Research into Practice through the Mental Health Research Network (MHRN). Speakers include Professor Graham Thornicroft (Institute of Psychiatry) and Professor Jenny Shaw (Offender Health Research Network). There will also be workshops on primary care, industry and psychological therapies.

It is free to attend.

The MHRN welcome abstracts (by February 3) for mini-presentations and poster presentations from new researchers in the following fields:

  • Mental Health Nursing
  • Psychology
  • Psychiatry
  • Allied Health Professionals

The Nottingham Systematic Review Course 2012

This course will appeal to all those interested in completing a Cochrane-style review. Experiences tutors and facilitators will be available to give you practice and individual advice. After attending the course, participants should be able to understand search strategic, extract data, manage the results of systematic searches, understand the syntheses of the data, apply the methods and conduct reviews independently.

Who should attend? All people wishing to undertake reviews of randomised studies.

Study methods: Small group teaching, workshops, library-based interactive tutorials with hands on practical work at computer stations and group work.

Course fee: £899 All learning materials, lunch, refreshments and the evening meal on Thursday 5th July 5th are all included.

Brief course content:

  • Day 1 Developing a protocol for a review
  • Day 2 Searching and managing references
  • Day 3 Extracting and using data
  • Day 4 Using RevMan, more sums and Cochrane.
