What is a CLAHRC?
CLAHRC stands for Collaborations for Leadership in Applied Health Research and Care. The Institute was awarded the CLAHRC in 2008 after Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust and the University of Nottingham won £17.4m in funding to establish a new research centre to help improve patient care across the region.
The CLAHRC is designed to develop new approaches to healthcare research and enable more research to be carried out. It is focused on patients' needs and putting findings into practice more quickly to improve the care and treatment that patients receive and improving the patient experience.
There are four clinical themes within the CLAHRC (primary care, mental health, stroke rehabilitation and children and young people) and four research projects within each clinical theme.
Partners involved in CLAHRC NDL are: Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust, NHS Nottingham City, NHS Nottinghamshire County, Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, NHS Derby City, Derbyshire County PCT, Derbyshire Mental Health NHS Trust, Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, Bassetlaw PCT, NHS East Midlands, University of Nottingham and Nottingham City Council.
