Health, Behaviour & Society

Head of Section: Professor Justine Schneider

In the health, behaviour and society section we bring together a wide range of disciplines to focus on research and practice development. By encouraging academics from the social sciences and humanities to work alongside health service and medical researchers, we hope to foster creative collaborations.

The aim of the section is to promote recovery from mental illness and to prevent mental distress by increasing understanding of the impact on mental health of inter-personal dynamics, family systems, community features, social policies, law, ethics and regulation issues. We currently draw on expertise in social policy, sociology, social work, nursing, psychotherapy, law, social psychiatry and psychology.
